The strange and wonderful anchorage at Sawa-I-Lau.

The school grounds at Sawa-I-Lau.

They don't have a school "bell" here. Instead they have a school log drum.
When you hear the principal pounding away on this thing, its time to get your butt to class!

The reef at Sawa-I-Lau. Great snorkeling here with lots of live coral and thousands of fish.

The Skipper finally figured out how to use the timer on his camera
so he could get a shot of him and the First Mate on the beach.

The Skipper volunteered to give a presentation on American drumming at the grammar school.
A bunch of students met us at the beach to carry the drums up to the school.

Here's the Skipper trying to show the class where the heck he came from.

The Skipper doing his imitation of Ringo Starr.
Luckily, none of these kids had ever seen a drumset being played before!
Notice the Skipper's really cool illustrations on the blackboard showing the difference
between Fijian log drums and American drums.

The Skipper showing a Sawa-I-Lau student how to play drums.

The class.

The First Mate and one of Sophia, one of teachers, on her front porch.

Sawa-I-Lau is a really weird place. Check out these strange limestone rock formations.

Another shot of the weird geology.

And yet one more.

Gumbo lying at anchor at Sawa-I-Lau.
It seemed strange to us but we were the only boat anchored at every anchorage
in the Yasawas. The Skipper LOVED it that way but the First Mate
would have preferred some company.
