This is "Bill", the chief of the next village we visited -
SoSo village on Naviti Island.

A typical Fijian bure (home) at SoSo.

This is the school at SoSo Village.

We told these kids that we wanted to walk on the beach to look for shells.
They followed us along and soon found enough shells to fill both our pockets.

This is the Methodist Church service we attended at SoSo.

Big day at SoSo. Their village boat is preparing to leave on the 40 mile trip to Lautoka.
They're loading up produce and people to make the passage.

This is a shot of some of the people on the beach, along with their produce,
waiting patiently to load the boat.

And here they are loading the boat.

Another shot of the boat-loading procedure.
For some reason, we found this fascinating.

And they're off! No compass, no charts, no gps, no radar, no lifejackets.
Just 50 people on a 36 foot boat.

This is a shot of Nancy looking over some merchandise
at the village of Somo Somo on Naviti Island.

Nancy on the reef in Somo Somo Bay.

We were invited to breakfast by Sera and her aunt Meri at Somo Somo.
This is Nancy and Meri enjoying Fijian rotis.

Nancy on the trail to Yasawa High School.

And here's the high school.

These are some of the students at the grammar school
located on the same grounds as the high school.

This is a nice shot of the high school looking down from the top
of the trail from Somo Somo. The students from Somo Somo
must hike this trail twice a day!

We invited our new friends Sera (left) and Meri (middle)
along with their kids out to Gumbo for lunch one day.

This is a photo of Kurt recording the "award-winning" church choir at Somo Somo.

And this is our post-church lunch at Sera's bure.

Nancy baked a chocolate cake for after-church lunch.
These kids loved it so much that they were running down the beach licking the pan.

This is the anchorage at Nanuya-Sewa Island (also known as
the "Blue Lagoon" because this is where they filmed the movie of that name).

The supply boat delivering fuel and produce to the resort at the Blue Lagoon.
